Newly repainted Brian Robinson memorial. Portrait of Brian Robinson against a sunset background over the hills. A grey UVF headstone with a red hand and text '1st Batt B Coy. Vol. Brian Robinson killed in action 2nd Sept 1989. For his country and people, he took up the gun. A volunteer to the end and a true Ulster son robbed of his life's blood in Sept 89 but the name Brian Robinson will live for all time'. UVF and PAF poppy wreathes and YCV and UVF flags flank the headstone. '1st Batt B-Coy'. See also No.261, Album 8. From Sutton, Brian Robinson was shot and killed at the age of 27 years by the undercover members of the British Army following a gun attack on pedestrians shopping at the Ardoyne shops on the Crumlin Road. |

'I ndíl Gcuímhne aoglach Sean McCaughey. Gaelgoir agus muinteior. Fuair sé Bás ar son saoirse na h-Éireann'. (In loving memory of volunteer Sean McCaughey. Irish speaker and teacher. He died for the sake of Irish freedom). Sean McCaughey was sentenced to death for unlawful imprisonment and assault of Stephen Hayes, former IRA Chief-of-Staff, although his sentence was commuted to life. He started his strike in Portlaoise on 19 April 1946 and after 16 days, this became a hunger and water strike and he died 11 May 1946 on the 23rd day of his strike. Replaces No.1021, Album 30. |
