Description: |
Close-up of the portrait of Billy Bingham MBE. Billy Bingham began his footballing career at Glentoran and left for Sunderland where he scored 45 League goals during his stay between 1950 and 1957. He won an FA Cup runners-up medal in 1959 with Luton Town, and a League Championship medal with Everton in 1962-3. His international career with Northern Ireland included 10 goals with 56 appearances, including playing at the World Cup in 1958. His management positions included Southport, Plymouth, Linfield, Everton and Mansfield, as well as Greece from 1971 to 1973. He guided Northern Ireland to the World Cup finals in 1982 and 1986 during his 118 games in charge. |
