Close-up of Jimmy Johnstone portrait from No.2638. Jimmy 'Jinky' Johnstone died on 13th March 2006 at the age of 61 from motor neurone disease. He was voted Celtic's greatest ever player for his achievements including over 100 goals for the club helping them to win 9 titles between 1965-74, 23 Scotland caps and winning the European Cup in 1967 defeating Inter-Milan. |

This post box's Royal cypher relates to Queen Elizabeth II and stands for Elizabeth Regina. Ógra Shinn Féin have had a campaign of greening Royal Mail post boxes and Danny Turnbull was jailed for 3 days in Co. Tyrone for non payment of fines relating to this activity. Harris Boyle (22) and Wesley Somerville (34) were UVF and UDR members who were killed when the bomb that they were planting on the Miami Showband minibus exploded at Buskhill, near Newry, County Down in July 1975. Three members of the Miami Showband were shot and killed in the attack when they were stopped at a bogus checkpoint after returning from a gig at 'The Castle Ballroom' in Banbridge. |
