Description: |
'Lurgan Workhouse 1841 ' 1929. The Workhouse was opened to house the poor of Lurgan in 1841. In the mid 1840's, during the famine, there were 405 inmates. This mural is dedicated to all the men, women and children who lived, worked and died here during very harsh times. In 1929, it became Lurgan and Portadown District Hospital. Since 1972, it has been known as Lurgan Hospital'. |

SF 2006 ' The Five Demands 1) The Irish Government should produce a Green Paper on Irish Unity 2) The work of the All Ireland Ministerial Council should be expanded and additional All Ireland Implementation Bodies created 3) Westminster MPs elected in the 6 counties should be accorded speaking rights in the Dail. 4) Voting rights for Presidential elections should be extended to citizens in the six counties 5) The Irish Government should actively engage with the British Government and Unionism to promote and seek support for re-unification. Colour portraits of the hunger strikers and the crest of the four provinces of Ireland are shown. The 2006 demands are printed over a united Ireland in the colours of the Irish tricolour with the lark/barbed wire motif. |
