Republican graffiti damage to UVF mural No.453 Album 13. Graffiti reads "Unbowed, Unbroken. IRA Fuck You. Bert & Eddie. Short Strand PIRA. UT IRA. UT RA" (Up the IRA and Up the 'Ra). Graffiti follows rioting and attacks between East Belfast loyalists and Short Strand republicans over 2002. The mural has subsequently been whitewashed, leaving only the UVF crest visible.

Description:
Massive republican memorial set in its own gardens with decorative fountains. Two illustration are carved; firstly a female form ('Eire) carries the body of a dead republican skywards, under the quotation "The fools, the fools, the fools! They have left us our Fenian dead and while Ireland holds these graves, Ireland unfree shall never be at peace" secondly, women and children shout and bang bin lids behind a barbed wire barricade "Falls curfew 1970". A roll of honour naming IRA volunteers and Sinn Féin members killed in the conflict next to the inscription "This monument was erected by the Falls Cultural Society on behalf of the residents of the Falls Road, dedicated to those brave and gallant Vols of 'D' Company, 2nd Batt Irish Republican Army who made the supreme sacrifice in their quest for Irish Freedom" - this is also repeated in Irish.

Description:
Celtic memorial panel behind the Republican Monument in No.1365. Inscription reads "In dedication to the memory of those volunteers of 'D' Company who died of natural causes in serving the cause of Irish Republicanism, and to the men, women and children of this community who stood united, resolute and in defiance of the British war machine. Their bravery and courage will be etched in the annals of Irish Republicanism and indelible in the minds of generations to come. Inscribe their names on that scroll of fame in letters of purest gold" - this is also replicated in Irish.

"Brian. Aged 13. Murdered 10th October 1976" with a portrait of Brian Stewart surrounded by a celtic border, and a red rose laid at the foot of the mural. This is part of a series of murals to the child victims of plastic and rubber baton rounds (see also No.1002 Album 30). Brian Stewart died six days after being hit by a plastic bullet fired by the British Army close to his home on this street.

From Sutton, The women pictured are Anne Marie Pettigrew (died when her bomb detonated prematurely), Maura Meehan (30-year old IRA volunteer who was shot and killed by the British Army in October 1971 as she warned residents of British Army house raids in Cape Street in the Lower Falls, Belfast), Anne Parker (an 18-year old IRA bomber who died in a premature bomb explosion on North Howard Street, Lowe Falls, Belfast in August 1972), Catherine McGartland, Eileen Mackin (a 14-year old shot by a sniper whilst walking along Springhill Avenue in May 1973) and Dorothy Maguire (a 19-year old IRA volunteer shot and killed with Maura Meehan).

Description:
"In loving memory of volunteers John Stone, Jason McWilliams, Kevin McCracken and John Dougal" showing portraits of the four men, armed with rifles, but relaxed and smiling. Three other portraits at the foot of the mural of Annie McWilliams, Mary Austin and Kathleen Clark - three republican activists. From Sutton, John Stone was a 23-year old IRA man who died in a premature car bomb explosion in 1975 whilst travelling along Victoria Street, Belfast. Kevin McCracken was a 31-year old IRA man shot during attempted IRA sniper attack on British Army foot patrol in Norglen Crescent, Turf Lodge, Belfast in March 1988 around the time of the Gibraltar killings. John Dougal was a 16-year old shot by sniper from British Army observation while walking along Westrock Drive, Ballymurphy, Belfast in July 1972.

Three armed figures staring into the sunset. "I ndil cuimhne Volunteers." Portraits of James Quigley, Eamon McCormick, Teddy O'Neill and Michael Magee. Republican activists Mary Fegan and Alice Franklyn also shown. From Sutton, James Quigley was an 18 year old IRA volunteer shot during attempted sniper attack on British Army foot patrol, in Albert Street, Lower Falls, Belfast in September 1972. Eamon McCormick was a 17-year old member of the IRA's Youth Section who was shot by the Army in a gun battle near St. Peter's school, Ballymurphy in January 1972. O'Neill was a 26 year old shot dead by the RUC near the Whiterock Community Centre in 1980.

Blast bomb at pensioners bungalows. Sun 12th May: Sporadic Loyalist attacks throughout day. Houses bombarded with ball bearings, golf balls, bricks and bottles. Mon 13th may: Same as above - continued until 4am. Tue 14th May: PSNI Raid homes, riot with residents seriously injuring 6 people with plastic bullets. Loyalists throw stones from behind PSNI landrovers. Wed 15th May: Masked loyalists erect flags and throw fireworks. Thu 16th - Thu 23rd: Continued and sustained stone throwing by loyalists into and around area! Fri 31st May: Loyalists erecting flags on Newtownards Rd use hydraulic lift to stone children playing in street. Sustained and unprovoked attack on Clandeboye from Cluan Pl. BLAST BOMBS, PIPE BOMBS, PETROL BOMBS THROWN. Sat 1st June to present: As Above'..And More!!!"

"36th Ulster Division (Lest we Forget). Showing the crest of the Division, First World War soldiers running along a trench, a silhouette of a soldier beside a cross, a copy of the telegram informing the family of William McFadzean (14th Royal Irish Rifles) of his death (he was awarded the Victoria Cross). The final panel shows British soldiers of the First World War, wearing gas-masks and firing a Vickers machine gun.
