The following page has been compiled by Martin Melaugh to complement the Index of Deaths (1969-2001) by Malcolm Sutton. The information below is in draft form and should be treated with some caution. Some of the deaths listed below may be shown later to be unrelated to the conflict.

Killed in premature explosion, while handling a pipe bomb, in Winston Way in the Heights area of Coleraine, County Derry. |

Chris Whitson (20) Catholic
Status: Civilian (Civ), Killed by: Gary Davison and Gillian Agnew
Beaten and severely injured in a sectarian attack on 4 August 2002 in the carpark of Kelly's Nightclub, Portrush, County Antrim. Whitson was from Strathmore Park in Belfast and had been celebrating his brother's birthday with friends at the time of the incident. [On 20 April 2005 two people, Gary Davison (31) and Gillian Rose Agnew (24), pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges.] |

Killed when struck by a 'hit-and-run' driver in a stolen car in North queen Street, north Belfast. [The killing was viewed as sectarian because the driver of the car appeared to deliberately mount the pavement.] |

Alex McKinley (22) Protestant
Status: Civilan (Civ), Killed by: Unknown
Shot and mortally wounded on 7 October 2002 at Euston Street, in the Woodstock Road area of Belfast. Died from his wounds on 13 October 2002. [At Belfast's magistrates court on Wednesday 3 March 2004 a police detective stated that the murder had nothing to do with the then on-going loyalist feud. On Tuesday 19 September 2006 two men were sentenced for their part in the conspiracy to kill McKinley.] |

At the time the photographs were provided to the local media, the name of the photographer was not recorded. No payment was made for the photograph.
