Marlene’s piece represents the earth as a jigsaw. In order to complete it, everyone needs to work together. Surrounding the swirl of the earth are footprints marking out the steps we must take to safeguard the planet and its inhabitants. This piece addresses our own role and responsibility in achieving peace and draws attention to the need for everyone, worldwide, to try to complete the ‘puzzle’.

This piece was made especially for the exhibition "Stitching Peace: An exhibition of Arpilleras and Quilts", by invitation of the curator. This exhibition took place in Geneva and Jamaica in 2011
