Rotating exhibition: | ARK / Conflict Textiles |
Description: | “ARK /Conflict Textiles" marks the second installation in the rotating exhibition which commenced in June 2023; a collaboration between Conflict Textiles collection, ARK and the McClay Library at Queen’s University Belfast.
This four-piece installation by older arpilleristas / textile artists portrays their range of intergenerational concerns. The impact of dementia; the urgent need to safeguard our planet; the importance of building strong nets of connection in challenging times; and ways of uncovering and better understanding violent periods in our history – all find expression through these textiles.
The themes depicted through these textiles, connect to ARK’s annual public attitudes surveys and their focus on making information accessible, supporting civic society and challenging policies. All issues have particular scope for resonance with the Young Life and Times (YLT) survey.
Exhibition launch takes place at 12 noon on 15th April, 2024.
Details of the inaugural exhibition is available at ARK / Conflict Textiles (1st June 2023 - 6th March 2024).
This exhibition is a satellite of the Conflict Textiles retrospective exhibition Threads of Empowerment: Conflict Textiles’ International Journey at the Ulster Museum, Belfast (June 2024 - March 2025). For more information please visit our Summary page. |
