Description: The poster refers to Major Chichester-Clark, who was the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland from May 1969 to March 1971. The juggling is probably a reference by the poster designer to Chichester-Clark using sectarian division to maintain control of both Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland.
This was one of seven posters produced in Belfast on behalf of People's Democracy (PD). PD had invited The Poster Workshop Opens a new browser window. , based in Camden, London, and others, to come to Belfast (and Derry) in August / September 1969 to work on the posters.

Description: This poster refers to the fact that the British Army, when it was first deployed in Northern Ireland in 1969, was seen as offering protection to people. However the Army soon acted in a police role and began to arrest large numbers of Catholics. Subsequently the Army was also used in 1971 to implement the policy of Internment.
