Note on the CAIN Bibliography

The CAIN Bibliography (v22 - minor update April 2019) contains over 24,060 references to materials relevant to the Northern Ireland conflict and was compiled by Brendan Lynn, Martin Melaugh and Fionnuala McKenna (formerly Development Officer on the CAIN Project).

The entries in the bibliography mainly refer to books, journal articles, reports, newspaper articles, pamphlets, dissertations, etc. The bibliography mainly covers the period 1968 to the present but also includes key texts from before 'the Troubles'. During 2006-2008 the bibliography was extended to included ephemeral items, mainly media stories, related to the issues surrounding the topic of victims. This work was conducted as part of an AHRC funded project.

Some of the citations returned from the search will have links to extracts from, or full text of, the document on the CAIN site. There are also some links to versions on external Web sites.

When searching for names beginning with: "Mc", "Mc ", "O", "O ", "O'", "O' ", etc, the spacing (" ") can be important. If you are unsure just use the main part of the surname in your search.
