Exhibition and associated activities: | Stitched Legacies of Conflicts |
Description: | Stitched Legacies of Conflict will explore personal connections and memories of conflict in Northern Ireland drawing on international perspectives of other conflicts. It features 23 textiles (predominantly arpilleras) from Chile, Peru, Nigeria, Catalonia/Spain, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
The exhibition and associated programme of activities is designed to support reflection on memories of Conflict, including World War I (WW I), during the Decade of Anniversaries. This programme will be coinciding with On the Brink 1916 Legacy and Impact exhibition by Causeway Museum Service (CMS) and Mid Antrim Museums Service (MAMS) funded by Heritage Lottery.
Participants will be enabled to share their own experiences of / perspectives on conflict through the launch event, workshop and finale event, where they will have the opportunity to share their narratives through the medium of textiles using a “hands on” approach. This process has been implemented in previous CMS and MAMS commissioned exhibitions Stitching and Unstitching The Troubles - phase 1 (SUTT 1) and SUTT 2
