In this arpillera, Edith depicts the carnage caused by the IRA bomb, which exploded at lunchtime in Regent's Park, London, July 20th 1982. Seven bandsmen of the Royal Green Jackets who were performing a concert at the open-air bandstand were killed.
The bomb had had been planted under the bandstand in advance of the performance, the first in a series of advertised lunchtime concerts. Approximately two dozen civilians who had been listening to the performance and enjoying the summer sunshine were injured. CAIN "A Chronology of the Conflict - 1982"
Thirty years later, Edith revisits this traumatic event through her arpillera, created during a series of workshops that were facilitated as part of the associated activities during the exhibition Stitching and Unstitching the Troubles I and II, 2012/2013.
