Young Citizens’ Volunteers (YCV)
A title that was first used around 1912 with the name being again applied to the youth wing of the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) in the mid-1970s.


Young Democrats (YD)
A youth organisation launched in 1995 that is affiliated to the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP).


Young Militants (YM)
synonyms: Ulster Young Militants (UYM)
Considered to be the youth wing of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA). Bruce (1992) considered the YM to be a section of the Ulster Freedom Fighters (UFF) mainly centred on west Belfast. The group was formed in the early 1970s (1974?). In April 2001 members of the YM appeared in Belfast High Court accused of the murder of Trevor Thomas Lowry (49), a Protestant civilian, who was mistaken for a Catholic and attacked on 31 March 2001 On 11 November 2001 a Protestant teenager died while holding a pipe-bomb; he was reported to have been a member of the YM.
