Commissioned by: | Doras Luimní, Limerick |
Date(s): | 17th July 2017 - 28th July 2017 |
Venue: | CB1 Gallery, Limerick Central Buildings, 51a O’Connell Street, Limerick, Republic of Ireland |
Curator: | Roberta Bacic, assisted by Breege Doherty |
Facilitator: | Doras Luimní, in collaboration with local partners |
Outcome: | The aim of the exhibition was to raise awareness of the human impact of war and injustice, and to promote a culture of hospitality and welcome for refugees seeking sanctuary from war and persecution in Limerick. A total of six events, including the opening and closing, took place, with an average of 30 people attending each event. These gatherings, reflective of a wide range of communities and groups, included first hand testimony from people who fled war zones. This enabled people to connect, engage in conversations about war and its impacts, and break down barriers that impede progress towards a better world. Engagement with a wider circle of people was facilitated through the online resources, particularly the exhibition catalogue. |
