My exhibition was shown as part of the Threads of Empowerment Exhibition in the Ulster Museum.
I had not exhibited in DerryLondonderry before and the Ulster University’s Library was an excellent space, light and airy. It was a great pleasure to talk at the opening with Brandon Hamber, Gillian Robinson and library manager, Rosina Doherty-Allan and I now look forward to collaborating further. I really appreciate the kind and thoughtful comments made about my work in the film of the Exhibition Opening. The film showed excellent shots of my piece Continuum and this work, together with the other exhibited piece, Her Pillow, the Earth, are now part of the Conflict Textiles Collection. Roberta’s delightful gift was a pleasant surprise andI completely agree with her on how, through textile art, the needle tells a story, highlighting how people suffer in the conflicts that continue globally, while what we need so very much, is peace. |
