| Exhibition and associated activities: | Following the Thread - Arpilleras and Quilts Exhibition |
| Description: | This exhibition was a follow up to the exhibition Threads of Life: Quilts and arpilleras that speak out displayed at the Liverpool World Museum as part of the Liverpool Irish Festival in October 2009.
A total of 13 textiles were exhibited. Nine of these pieces were comprised of individual pieces by group members mounted on a common backing. They were the outcome of a series of textile workshops on the theme of heritage, led by facilitators Janet Wilkinson and Susan Beck from October 2009 - March 2010. Two mini arpilleras were completed by the facilitators. Another group piece from a separate series of workshops led by Susan Beck complemented the existing pieces, whilst a Peruvian arpillera from the collection of curator Roberta Bacic completed the exhibition.
There was a private preview event on 14 June 2010. |
