Description: | "Chilean arpilleras of the late 1980’s - Enforced Disappearance and Police Repression", marks the eighth installation of textiles in two years, within the permanent rotating exhibition Conflict Textiles collection: Magee Campus Library, Ulster University.
Enforced disappearance and police repression are the key themes in these four arpilleras made in the late 1980s. Of particular interest is their circuitous journey to the Conflict Textiles collection in 2021. Over several decades, they have passed through various solidarity networks via Chile, the USA and Germany.
Recently documented, this is their first time on exhibit. The launch commences at 12 noon, Thursday 28th July, in Magee Campus Library.
