Description: | This collective banner comprised of arpillera dolls was made during a workshop which was part of the Forum Internacional de Arpilleras / Arpilleras International Forum (2016). At this time, a rally in support of refugees was taking place in Gernika. In solidarity with the rally this workshop focused on creating a banner for nonviolent action.
Over two afternoons, women from many different countries worked together, with fabric, needle and thread as their common language. This finished piece is a modest homage and support towards the 110 million people who are displaced from their homes globally, as a result of conflict, violence and human rights violations UNHCR (2023). It will be used as a banner in future nonviolent actions and protests.
