| Description: | This piece, made at the height of the period in which arpilleras were sold abroad as part of a solidarity campaign, depicts how this community dealt with the closure of factories and economical restraints during the Pinochet regime. We see people contributing in various ways to the soup kitchen effort; and two men are distributing leaflets about their working circumstances. Like most classical arpilleras, this one is made of scraps of fabric. It is unusual in that the mountains are made of camouflage material, which is a unique way to depict the ever-present Andes. |
