Description: | This exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Chile in Ireland and curated by Roberta Bacic, gathers 21 arpilleras made by communities and individuals from different countries: Chile, Northern Ireland, Catalonia/Spain, the UK and Zimbabwe.
The exhibition will be launched at the Chilean Embassy's premises on Wednesday, 16th November at 6pm where it will be on display until 23rd November.
For the remaining time, (23rd Nov - 12th Dec) the exhibition will move to the Instituto Cervantes - Sala de Exposiciones, Lincoln House, Lincoln Place, Dublin 2.
Opening hours: lun-jue / Mon-Thu 14:00-19:00; vie-sáb / Fri-Sat 12:00-14:00
Associated activities such as guided tours or talks will take place within the exhibition space in Dublin. Other activities are planned in conjunction with the National University of Ireland (NUI) Galway.

Outcome: | The aim of this exhibition is to build on and continue the work of cultural promotion carried out by the Embassy of Chile in Ireland. It started on September 16th 2010 with the one day exhibition Chilean Arpilleras of Yesterday and Today: Textile Ambassadors, marking Chile’s National Day. This was followed by it’s major milestone in recent years with the exhibition Arpilleras Poéticas y recital del poeta chileno Jaime Huenún / Poetic arpilleras exhibition and poetry reading by Chilean poet Jaime Huenún (November - December 2012). An arpillera workshop, targeted at the Chilean community in the city of Dublin, was facilitated by Roberta Bacic in August 2015 (See "Arpillera workshop report - 21st August 2015" in document section below.) |
