Exhibition and associated activities:From Displacement to Empowerment
Description: This exhibition programme is a partnership between the Regional Cultural Centre Letterkenny and Conflict Textiles, in collaboration with Letterkenny Amnesty group. It takes place in the context of UN World Refugee Day 2024, (20 June) & UK Refugee week 2024 (17 - 23 June), the theme of which is "Our Home".

Through this selection of textiles and sculpture, we are invited to reflect on the experience of refugees and asylum seekers fleeing from persecution, conflict, violence and human rights violations.

This exhibition programme builds on previous collaborations: Chilean arpilleras (2008), War-Torn Children (2018) and Every Action Counts – Making arpillera dolls (2021).

Exhibition programme:
-Launch event and film, 26th June (6.30pm)
-In conversation with Roberta Bacic, Conflict Textiles curator (13th July 3.30-4.40pm)
-Hands on textile workshop facilitated by Fabric Artist Deborah Stockdale (18th July 12-4pm)

All associated activities will include a guided tour of the exhibition. Children will have the opportunity to engage with the exhibition through RCC arts workshops. All exhibitions within the RCC will be included in a celebration event as part of the Errigal Arts Festival (13 - 28 July 2024).
