Exhibition and associated activities:Threads for Corporate Justice
Description: Threads for Corporate Justice collective banner is the outcome of a series of four online workshops -Threads for Corporate Justice workshop programme- facilitated by Fabric Artist Deborah Stockdale and Conflict Textiles curator, Roberta Bacic, May – June 2022. The programme was initiated by Trócaire to raise awareness of their corporate accountability campaign .

Twelve Trócaire activists worked on individual panels which reflect elements of the campaign that they felt strongly about, including indigenous communities being violently evicted from their land, the negative impacts of the fast fashion industry, and the power of global solidarity.

The banner, accompanied by five arpilleras within the Threads for Corporate Justice exhibition, was launched on Tuesday, 11th October at 3pm in the Foyer of the Birley Building, Ulster University, York St., Belfast. The launch event was part of the One World Festival 2022, 10-14 October. It included inputs from Trócaire, Conflict Textiles and the activists who created the banner panels.

-Launch of banner in Dublin, 18 November 2022.
Commissioned by: Trócaire
Date(s): 11th October 2022 - 17th October 2022
Venue: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Foyer of the Birley building, Ulster University, York St., Belfast, Northern Ireland
Curator: Roberta Bacic assisted by Breege Doherty
Facilitator: Jeannie McCann, Advocacy and Campaigns Officer NI Trócaire
Outcome: The hands-on element of the entire initiative, commencing with the workshop programme in May 2022, gave a very tangible representation to Trócaire's corporate accountability campaign. The connections fostered at all stages of this programme were further consolidated during the launch preparation phase.

The range of attendees at the launch from different organisations and communities, and their level of engagement, is fertile ground for the next phase of bringing Threads for Corporate Justice collective banner to different communities.

Overall, this collective banner, and the ensuing post launch publicity, provides us with a visual practical tool in joining with Trócaire in their demands for an International Treaty on Business and Human Rights, which would help to end corporate impunity for abuse of people and planet.
