A statue of Governor Walker used to stand on top of a tall pillar which was positioned on the city walls overlooking the Bogside area of Derry. The monument was blown up by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in 1973 (?). The plinth is all that remains of George Walker's monument at the site. The statue was recovered and is in storage.
