Rotating exhibition:ARK / Conflict Textiles - The Environment
Description: 'ARK / Conflict Textiles - The Environment' marks the 4th installation of the rotating exhibition which commenced in June 2023 as a collaboration between Conflict Textiles, ARK and the McClay Library at Queen's University Belfast.

The themes of the five pieces connect to ARK's annual Northern Ireland Life and Times survey, which in 2024 included questions exploring public attitudes to climate change.

A Research Update and short video by Katy Hayward and Jonny Hanson highlight the survey findings on this topic.

The exhibition launch will take place at 12:30pm on the 27th May, and will mark 25 years of ARK.

Details of the inaugural exhibition are available at ARK / Conflict Textiles (01/06/2023 - 06/03/2024). Further information can be found on the second and third exhibitions on their own event page.
Commissioned by: ARK / Conflict Textiles
Date(s): 27th May 2025 - 25th November 2025
Venue: McClay Library, Queen's University, Belfast
10 College Park Ave, Belfast BT7 1LP
Curator: Roberta Bacic
Facilitator: Paula Devine and Christine Carrothers
Outcome: This fourth installation in the ARK/Conflict Textiles collaboration focused on the environment. As with previous topics, environment-related issues are of local, national and global importance. Public attitudes of climate change have been a recent focus of ARK's Northern Ireland Life and Times, and Young Life and Times surveys, resulting in a range of publications, events and other outputs. The five textiles complemented this, providing important visualisations of the impact on people and communities, both now and in the future. The location of the exhibition on the ground floor of McClay Library at Queen's University Belfast, meant that it was accessible for staff, students and visitors.
