Description: | A significant aftershock of war is the displacement of civilians fleeing the violence. In this Peruvian arpillera, a replica of the 1985 original made in a Mujeres Creativas workshop, life for the displaced in a Lima shanty town is depicted. In order to ensure a level of normality and to allow life to go on, markets such as these are integral to keeping the spirit of survival.
We can identify with all the women: the seller of the vegetables, the shop assistants, the women buying what they can afford; each hoping for a more stable, peaceful, non-violent existence.
