Description: | This collection of 10 individual pieces was created by members of Granby Soft Furnishing Group at an afternoon workshop on the theme of Heritage, which was part of the 2009 Liverpool Irish Festival community programme.
Students had visited the “Threads of Life” Exhibition at the World Museum, Liverpool and viewed the arpilleras, quilts and wall-hangings on display from Chile, Peru and Northern Ireland. For some of the students English was their second language.
Pieces produced depicted childhood and birth in Liverpool, weddings in Africa and Vegas, and memories of Africa, Algeria and Somalia.
