Description: | Here Leanne depicts a building in flames, following the bombing of Coleraine Town centre, by the IRA, on Friday, 13th November 1992. Moores Shop in the Mall, Coleraine Town Hall and many commercial premises nearby suffered extensive damage from the blast. http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/othelem/chron/ch92.htm#Nov
Whilst no one was killed, several major buildings had to be demolished. Coleraine Town Hall, required major structural work and did not re-open until August 1995.
Leanne stitched this arpillera during workshops that took place as part of the associated activities during the exhibition Stitching and Unstitching the Troubles I and II, 2012/2013. In these weekly workshops, women had the opportunity through the medium of textile, to explore and record their memories of the tumultuous period in Northern Ireland; The Troubles.
