Description: | This interactive and participatory workshop explored the role of Conflict Textiles as a vehicle for giving testimony about the lived experience of conflict, focusing on Colombia.
On display at this workshop was a selection of Colombian pieces from the Conflict Textiles collection. Curator of the collection, Roberta Bacic, introduced the textiles. These textiles tell the stories of both those who have remained in Colombia, and those who were forced into exile. Workshop participants will be invited to explore the relationship between these textiles and themes such as voice, agency, memory, truth, justice, and human rights.
This event was an associated activity within the Conflict Textiles collection: McClay Library, Queen's University, Belfast permanent rotating exhibition.

Outcome: | This workshop connected undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic staff and others with an interest in Conflict Textiles. There was a rich and wide-ranging discussion about conflict textiles and their role in giving a voice to those impacted by conflict and human rights violations, and participants had time to consider several Colombian textiles that were on display. |
