Exhibition launch:Launch of John and Pat Hume Commemorative Textiles
Description: This commemorative event is a collaboration between the John Hume & Thomas P. O'Neill Chair in Peace based at the International Conflict Research Institute (INCORE) at Ulster University and Conflict Textiles. The launch of these two commemorative textiles John Hume, Peacemaker and Pat Hume, celebrates their life and tireless contribution to peace in Northern Ireland over several decades.

The textiles were unveiled at 12 noon, 28th January in Magee campus Library, Ulster University, a campus where John and Pat had a strong presence over the years and where John occupied the inaugural Thomas P. O'Neill Chair in Peace studies (2002 - 2009). Both textiles are on display for a six month period as part of the Conflict Textiles collection: Magee campus Library, Ulster University permanent rotating exhibtition.

Launch of transcript interviews of textile artists who created the Hume textile portraits, 11.45am, 11th July:

The launch took place in the context of the Peacebuilding, Public Order and Conflict Management Summer School on Magee Campus, 8 - 18 July, 2022. Students of the Summer School gained an understanding of the work of Conflict Textiles as well as viewing/engaging with the textiles on display.

Outcome: These commemorative textiles sparked memories, connections, conversations and seeded new developments.
-In the months following the launch, Brandon Hamber conducted interviews with textile artists Deborah Stockdale and Linda Adams. The transcripts of these interviews, which detail the process of creating the textiles, were launched on 11th July 2022.
-In April 2023, both textiles will be displayed at the Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre, marking the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
