| Exhibition and associated activities: | Remembering the Holocaust |
| Description: | This exhibition invites visitors to remember and explore the history and legacy of the Holocaust, through the collections of Conflict Textiles, Millisle Farm and CCGBC Museum Service - as part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Holocaust Memorial programme for 2018.
On display will be objects, photographs and textiles, offering important insights into the narratives of the Holocaust and conflict during World War II and beyond. Featured in the exhibition are items from Millisle Farm in Co. Down, a site of Jewish Refugee resettlement from 1938 to 1948, and original textile artworks, memorabilia, photos and books from the international Conflict Textiles collection.
The exhibition is facilitated by Helen Perry (CCGBC Museum Services Development Manager), Sarah Carson (CCGBC Museum Officer), Rachael Garrett (CCGBC Museum Officer) and Millisle Farm curator.
Associated activities
1)A series of 'hands-on' workshops with local schools will take place in the exhibition space, facilitated by Roberta Bacic.
2)“Anne: An imagining of the Life of Anne Frank” by Marjorie Agosín, will be launched at 7pm, 25th January, 2018. Publishers of the book, Lesley and Robert Gray, will be in attendance.
The exhibition closes on the 27th January - Holocaust Memorial Day 2018.

| Outcome: | Up to 100 pupils from three local schools: Ballymoney Model, Landhead and Bush Valley Primary Schools, participated in workshops where they viewed the exhibition and learned more about the life of Anne Frank. They also crafted 'a friend for Anne Frank' and created their very own craft diary in her memory, which they titled “The Power of Words: The Power of Friendship”.
Approximately 40 people attended the book launch; people from the locality and further afield, representing various sections of the community. Overall, a total of 994 people visited the exhibition. |
