Arpilleras on Display (Photo: Élise Féron) |
| Rotating display: | INCORE Ulster University - Human Rights Violations |
| Description: | This exhibition is a collaboration between Conflict Textiles and INCORE.
It is comprised of three arpilleras addressing issues that are central to INCORE's research:
- First, that of disappearances that continue to happen in many war and/or authoritarian settings, and whose number has dramatically risen over the past few years. This theme is illustrated with an arpillera on disappearances that occurred during the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile;
- Second, that of human rights violations, illustrated by an arpillera on human rights violations and the use of torture under the regime of Bashar al-Assad in Syria;
- Third, that of the right to education, illustrated with an arpillera on the 2011 mass student movement in Chile.
The exhibition opening will take place on December 10, 2025. |
