| Exhibition: | Conflict Textiles presence at the Tower Museum: 2008 - 2024 |
| Description: | This exhibition marks 16 years of collaboration between the Tower Museum and Conflict Textiles, beginning with the exhibition The Politics of Chilean Arpilleras (8th Feb. - 19th Apr. 2008) at what was Derry City Council's Harbour Museum. This exhibition was a forerunner to the extensive exhibition programme The Art of Survival: International and Irish Quilts at the Tower Museum (8th Mar. - 19th Apr. 2008) which laid the groundwork for the many subsequent collaborations.
The current exhibition features archive material from the many exhibition programmes delivered in partnership with Conflict Textiles and one Chilean arpillera ‘From the Window’ (1990).
This display is a satellite of the Conflict Textiles retrospective exhibition Threads of Empowerment: Conflict Textiles’ International Journey at the Ulster Museum, Belfast (June 2024 - March 2025). For more information please visit our Summary page.
