Description: | Caorigh agus Olann was a project organised by Donegal County Museum as part of an international project involving partners in Norway and East Iceland. As the project theme was Sheep and Wool, Donegal County Museum chose The Gweedore Sheep War - an important historical event in Donegal in the mid 1800s - as the theme to create a quilt, using Donegal wool and tweed. Donegal based artist Deborah Stockdale, who believes strongly in the power of textiles to bring history alive, worked with Letterkenny Irish Countrywomen's Association (ICA) in creating the quilt. |
