Description: | Micro Cosmos is part of a series of new work created by Deborah Stockdale, of Glencolmcille, Co. Donegal. Forms and images from the natural world together with microscopic images of plants, animals and minerals were her source of inspiration for this work. Deborah is hopeful that Micro Cosmos may have deepened people's appreciation of art work on scientific themes and challenged some preconceptions.
This exhibition was part of a continuous series of arpillera and quilt exhibitions hosted by the Verbal Arts Centre in Derry and curated by Roberta Bacic, from 2008 to 2013. Each exhibition, comprised of a piece or pieces created by community groups from different parts of the island, other countries, or individual women, was displayed for a number of weeks before being replaced with a new exhibition. |

Outcome: | This exhibition, inspired by scientific photograophy, illustrated the variety of exhibits in the permanent-rotating exhibition and prompted viewers to approach textile art with a different lens.
