| Description: | Conflict Textiles curator Roberta Bacic has been invited to take part in a workshop entitled Guantánamo: Legality, Art and Resistance to take place at the Queen’s University Belfast School of Law on Thursday March 19th, 2026. The workshop is co-hosted by the Human Rights Centre and the Transitional Justice Cluster at the Queen’s University School of Law and is co-sponsored by the Human Rights Centre at the University of Minnesota Law School.
The goal of the workshop is to bring attention to the massive violations of international law experience by these former detainees, to underscore the creative agency, human rights and collective humanity of those who created this art, and to further identify and highlight the material, artistic culture developed by those formerly detained to process and express their own experiences of harm, trauma, and resilience. The workshop also seeks to build bridges to local Northern Ireland conflict related artwork and expression.
The workshop takes place in room 08.014 at the School of Law, and the event starts at 10 am ending at 4 pm. |
