Webinar: | Conflict Textiles and CAIN: Learning the Language of Textiles |
Description: | This webinar will provide a background to the origins, development and mission of the Conflict Textiles physical collection and online archive. It will be presented by the Conflict Textiles team led by Roberta Bacic, a Chilean Human Rights advocate and researcher. Since 2007, Roberta has been the curator of the International Conflict Textiles collection and has curated over 120 international exhibitions of arpilleras and associated events in museums, universities, art galleries, embassies and community spaces worldwide. All of these events and textiles (377) are fully documented on the Conflict Textiles archive, hosted by CAIN (Conflict Archive on the INternet) since 2007, at Ulster University, Northern Ireland.
This event is organised as part of the CAIN Associate Programme.

Outcome: | The webinar entitled – ‘Conflict Textiles and CAIN: Learning the Language of Textiles’ was held in conjunction with the CAIN Associate Programme. The programme itself aims to showcase how CAIN plays an important role in academic research and the work of policy makers and practitioners. During the presentation members of the Conflict Textiles team – Roberta Bacic, Breege Doherty and Gillian Robinson – demonstrated the long-term collaboration between CAIN and Conflict Textiles which has been of enormous benefit to both parties. |
