Exhibition and associated activities:Arpilleras de América Latina: Mujeres cosedoras de vida / Arpilleras of Latin America: Women sewing life
Description: This exhibition showcases 20 arpilleras from Latin America which are part of Conflict Textiles collection. Most of these arpilleras are of Chilean origin, with pieces from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru also included.
Two pieces have been created and sewn by Argentinean artists Ana Zlakes & Mirta Zak, from Creative Group Z – Z. This initiative has been possible thanks to a long standing process of collaboration between the parties involved.

The closing event on Sunday 24th April had two main components:
1)At 4pm, students and teachers from the Pottery College/Escuela de Cerámica gave a presentation on their work and their arpillera "Irene, Marta, Hilda, Patricia: Ahora y Siempre Presentes / Irene, Marta, Hilda, Patricia: Now and Always Present."

2)At 5pm, curator Roberta Bacic delivered a closing address and facilitated a collective closing of the exhibition.

Outcome: This exhibition and associated activities have proved extremely popular. Participants at the arpillera workshop facilitated by Ana Zlatkes and Roberta Bacic on April 23rd found it very worthwhile. At their request, additional arpillera workshops will commence in June 2016.
