This Chilean arpillera shows women on their own dancing the traditional Cueca, which is a dance meant for partners and represents the different emotions and stages of romance.
It expresses how these women reacted when pushed to the limit. A number of versions of 'La cueca sola' have been made since the original one was produced in the late 1980s. This version was made by Marta Covarrubias, daughter in law of Violeta Morales, who created the arpillera 'Torture Chamber' in 1996. |
