CONTINUOUS HOUSEHOLD SURVEY: RELIGION MONITOR 1988-1990/91 (NO 1/93)

This Monitor presents material relating to the social and economic position of the two main religious denomination groups within Northern Ireland based on data from the Continuous Household Survey (CHS) for the years 1988, 1989/90 and 1990/91. Data for these years has been aggregated in an attempt to reduce the sampling error associated with estimates. The main areas covered in the monitor include sample composition, household structure and family size, occupation and economic activity, education, income, housing and health. Religion is a major social variable within Northern Ireland and much interest has focused on comparison between religious groups. Since CHS began it has included a question which determined the religious denomination of each respondent.
