A PROFILE OF THE NORTHERN IRELAND WORKFORCE: SUMMARY OF THE MONITORING RETURNS

Under Section 27(1) of the Fair Employment (Northern Ireland) Act 1989, employers with more than 10 employees are obliged to furnish the Fair Employment Commission with an annual return indicating the religion composition of their workforces. All Specified Authorities and those private sector concerns employing more than 250 workers must also provide information on the religion composition of job applicants and appointees. A summary of monitoring returns is published annually. It includes information on the Northern Ireland workforce as a whole and on the component parts of the public and private sectors. A wealth of information is provided including analysis of trends over time. Each year the report also contains a comprehensive A-Z listing of the composition of all individual Specified Authorities and those private sector concerns with 26 or more employees.
