LABOUR FORCE RELIGION REPORT
The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is an annual sample survey that is
conducted in all Member States of the European Community (EC).
The Department of Economic Development (DED) is responsible for
conducting the survey in Northern Ireland. In order to provide
up-to-date statistics on the employment experiences of Catholics
and Protestants, a question on the religion of respondents has
been routinely asked in the Northern Ireland survey since 1990.
Analysis of the religion dimension of the survey is undertaken
by the Statistics and Social Division of PPRU. The Labour Force
Survey Religion Report includes information disaggregated by
religion on labour force participation rates and reasons for
non-participation, employment and unemployment rates,
qualifications, training, the methods of job search used by the
unemployed, the length of time the unemployed have been seeking
work and the religious composition of employees in the main
industrial sectors.
