STATISTICS FOR THE WINTER 1991 AND SUMMER 1992 EXAMINATIONS

This booklet contains statistics which describe the outcomes of the GCSE and GCE A/AS examinations, Summer 1992 and the GCSE examinations, Winter 1991 conducted by the Northern Ireland Schools Examinations and Assessment Council. The results of GCSE examinations, analysed by subject and gender, are presented in the form of 7 grades, A to G in descending order and candidates, who fail to reach the minimum standard, are ungraded. Similarly, the results of GCE A and AS examinations, analysed by subject and gender, are classified into 5 grades of pass, lettered A to E, in descending order of merit and one grade, lettered N, denotes that the candidate has not quite achieved a standard justifying the award of grade E. There is also an unclassified category.
