A COMMENTARY ON NORTHERN IRELAND CRIME STATISTICS
The Commentary on Northern Ireland Crime Statistics is an annual
publication prepared by the Northern Ireland Office Statistics
and Research Branch. It contains statistical information on
notifiable offences recorded and cleared by the Police, court
proceedings, sentencing and data on the prison population in the
given year. Furthermore, comparative figures for previous years
over the last decade are provided in most tables. Charts and
graphs are also used extensively. The Commentary includes
useful information (set out in Appendices) on the operation of
criminal courts in Northern Ireland and the sentences available
to the court.
