Each of the Statutory Departmental Committees is made up of 11 Assembly members to "advise and assist" the Ministers. The Committees provide a system of checks and balances and allow Assembly members to question Ministers on policy matters. The two most senior figures on each Committee are the chair and deputy chair.

Changes Relating to the Regional Development Committee 2007-2011
1 Mr Allan Bresland replaced Mr William Irwin as a member of the Committee from 15 September 2008 and Mr Alastair Ross replaced Mr Stephen Moutray as a member of the Committee from 15 September 2008.
2 Mr Danny Kinahan replaced Mr John McCallister as a member of the Committee from 22 June 2009.
3 Mr Tommy Gallagher replaced Mr John Dallat as a member of the Committee from 29 June 2009.
4 Miss Michelle McIlveen replaced Mr Jim Wells as Deputy Chairman of the Committee from 4 July 2009.
5 Mr Ian McCrea replaced Mr Alastair Ross as a member of the Committee from 16 September 2009.
6 Mr Billy Leonard replaced Mr Raymond McCartney as a member of the Committee from 13 April 2010.
7 Mr Brian Wilson ceased to be a member of the Committee from 13 April 2010 and Mr Trevor Lunn was appointed as a member of the Committee from 13 April 2010.
8 Mr Conall McDevitt replaced Mr Tommy Gallagher as a member of the Committee from 24 May 2010.
9 Mr Fra McCann replaced Mr Willie Clark as a member of the Committee from 13 September 2010.
10 Mr Billy Armstrong replaced Mr Danny Kinahan as a member of the Committee from 1 November 2010.
11 Ms Anna Lo replaced Mr Trevor Lunn as a member of the Committee from 15 November 2010.
