Membership of the Environment Committee 1999-2002

The Environment Committee was established to "advise and assist" the Minister of the Environment. The Committee provided a system of checks and balances and allow Assembly members to question Ministers on policy matters.It operated during those periods from November 1999 until October 2002 when devolved power in Northern Ireland was fully operational. The two most senior figures on the Committee were the chair and deputy chair.

Changes Relating to the Environment Committee 1999-2002
1 Mr Francie Molloy replaced Mr Mitchell McLaughlin as a member of the Committee from 4 February 2002.
2 Mrs Mary Nelis replaced Mr Mick Murphy as a member of the Committee from 1 July 2002.
3 Ms Patricia Lewsley replaced Ms Carmel Hanna as a member of the Committee from 21 January 2002.
4 Mr Michael Coyle replaced Mr Arthur Doherty as a member of the Committee from 16 September 2002.
5 Mr William Armstrong replaced Mr James Leslie as a member of the Committee from 8 April 2002.
6 Mr David McClarty replaced Mr Tom Hamilton as a member of the Committee from 26 February 2001. Mr Hamilton replaced Mr Tom Benson as a member of the Committee from 29 January 2001. Mr Benson had died on 24 December 2000.
