| Description: | Sign at an Official Irish Republican Army (OIRA) 'checkpoint' in the Bogside area of Derry. An OIRA member is at the window on the right with a heavy caliber machine gun. The second sign reads: "They can kill a revolutionary but not the revolution". The image of the gunman is based on a photograph of Joe McCann that was taken in August 1971. McCann was a member of the OIRA and was shot dead, although unarmed at the time, by members of the Parachute Regiment on 15 April 1972 in Belfast. |
