A view of East Wall, City Walls, Derry. The 'street' in the photograph was part of the City Walls in Derry. The terrace of houses on the right were built right up against the inside wall. They formed the longest stretch of housing on the walls. Demolition of some of the properties began in the early 1970s and all the properties were demolished by 1978. The houses probably began life as fashionable dwellings but by the 1960s the properties had become tenement dwellings with a number of families living in each house. The site became the location for the Millennium Forum Theatre and Conference Centre which opened in 2001.
