Title: | Children on the City Walls [No.F1P1] |
Description: |
Two children sitting on the 'Roaring Meg' cannon. The cannon is located at the 'Double Bastion', part of the City Walls, overlooking the Bogside area of Derry. During the Siege of Derry 1688 to 1689 the canon was said to have made the loudest noise of any gun, hence the name. The street in the background, Nailor's Row (/ Nailer's Row), was demolished (in the years 1969 to 1972) as part of redevelopment in the city.
