Exhibition and associated activities:Disobedient Objects
Description: This exhibition by the Victoria and Albert Museum examines the powerful role of objects of art and design created by grassroots social movements as tools of social change, focusing on the period from 1980 to the present.

Four arpilleras from the collection of curator Roberta Bacic are included in this exhibition:

How to make a Disobedient Arpillera Doll - workshop

Arpilleras are a textile applique technique with a long history of subversive resistance. Join Disobedient Objects contributor and independent curator Roberta Bacic, and learn more about the history of arpilleras through a workshop on how to make your own arpillera doll. Please feel free to bring scraps of material with you of personal significance to incorporate into your doll. This workshop has limited spaces, please sign up on the evening. No sewing skills are required.

Outcome: Attendance The Disobedient Objects exhibition had a total of 416,867 visitors, making it the most well-attended show at the V&A since 'Britain Can Make It' in 1946.
