Description: In 1993 a feasibility study was carried out by Murtagh & Logue consultants. This proved the need for a neutral venue in Markethill and highlighted the lack of provision for youth and elderly in particular. Markethill District Enterprise Ltd have identified The Old Courthouse, Markethill, a listed building, as being situated in an area which would be acceptable to the whole community. The building is derelict and is an eye sore at the main entrance to Markethill. The group have received letters of offer of funding from the Heritage Lottery, Armagh City and District Council and PSEP. They are awaiting a letter of offer from IFI/DOE to complete the funding package to refurbish this building as a neutral venue. It is hoped that work will commence on the Old Courthouse Project late 1998 early 1999.
